Amsterdam: The city that’s known for their various canals and ancient old houses next to the marvellous canals. If you walk around the canals, you will probably be mesmerised by looking around and seeing the many different types of Canal houses. However, there’s one particular house right on the Keizersgracht (The Kings Canal) where you can book a place to stay and get a sweet and soft night of sleep, underneath sheets as soft as silk, combined with a soothing bath to calm your body and mind right before you sleep.

Beautiful Stays in Amsterdam

Beautiful stays in Amsterdam is a project where we broadcast beautiful hotels with either a unique design, concept, or a distinctive interior, to help you find a perfect place to stay whenever you are visiting Amsterdam. Whether this might be your first time visiting Amsterdam or you are a Dutchie exploring hotels in Amsterdam. We display these hotels all for you and sum up reasons why they be a good fit to your preferences. This week we'll share our experiences at Canal House Amsterdam, after this you may find yourself booking a room!

The concept

Right next to the Keizergracht, you will find the three - seventeenth centre merchants' houses: Canal House Amsterdam. It's located right in the middle of the Jordaan and has so much history within it. Inside of these marvellous merchants you will find the beautiful purple and black interior from extraordinary materials infused with luxurious aspects. When you walk through the entrance you will be impressed by so many paintings that you want to take a moment and read everything about them. Canal House is divided in various types of rooms and corners and in every bit you can find something that shares an aspect of Canal House Amsterdam.

The rooms

When we visited Canal House we have slept in two different rooms. The first one was an 'Exceptional Room.' In this room we have enjoyed a nice warm bath and great rain forest shower. Also, it has two sinks and great bath toiletries. In our case it had a kingsize bed and robes with slippers. Also, we looked over the beautiful Kings Canal and loved our view from our room. If you are staying in Canal House all the rooms will give you a true experience of living next to the canals of Amsterdam.

The other room was a ‘Best Room’, this is their huge suite of 60M2. As soon as you enter the room you will see how spacious this is. If there was a kitchen, it could be a nice apartment of Amsterdam. The room has not one, but two great rainforest showers next to each other. It may look dark at first, but if you turn on the lights it will add warm and cozy light to your shower. While you are showering, you should try their showergel, shampoo and conditioner of the 'Green & Spring Collection'. It is our favourite line so far, as we can assure you that these toiletries add the exact feeling you need before going to bed or starting the day. Or spoil yourself by enjoying an exquisite time in bath and if you'd like you can also watch some TV either during your bath or in bed.

The Food

Canal House offers a nice breakfast in their great dining area. Find yourself having a lovely breakfast inside their spacious black and purple room. Their large mirror is a great eye-catcher that gives something extra to the room. The breakfast itself has a nice variety of different drinks and foods. You can order coffee or tea and there are bottles filled with several juices such as: a fresh made smoothie, orange juice, apple and pear juice. Also, their buffet has a variety of different cheeses, meats, vegetables and sweets. For those who fancy a lighter breakfast, they also offer several types of yoghurts, fruits and granolas. When you are here ask for their signature drink with ginger. It is truly delicious!

Enjoy a cocktail or two inside the bar of Canal house or their garden, which is a hidden gem in Amsterdam. When you are sitting in the garden it will feel like you are not in the city center. There is no rush or crowds and you will only hear some bird whistle here and there. It has such a serene atmosphere and if the sun shines all day, you can find yourself easily sitting here reading a book or have a nice drink or two.

The services

We had a nice and warm welcome by the staff of Canal House. As soon as we entered, they offered to help us with our lugage and welcomed us with a nice ginger peach drink. If you would like to know more about the hotel and there is someone available to talk about it. They would love to have a chat with you and explain additional information about the hotel, the concept and the neighbourhood. Also, expect the unexpected extra mile of Canal House. They know how to surprise you in positive ways you would not expect it all!
