Beautiful stays in Amsterdam is a project where we broadcast beautiful hotels with either a unique design, concept, or a distinctive interior, to help you find a perfect place to stay whenever you are visiting Amsterdam. It doesn't matter whether this might be your first time visiting, or that you're a Dutchie exploring hotels in Amsterdam. We display these hotels all for you and sum up reasons why they be a good fit to your preferences. And this week we'll share the most important features of Room Mate Aitana Hotel Amsterdam.

The Concept

Room Mate Aitana, the second hotel we visitted this year. A beautiufl designer hotel that can be found in the middle of Amsterdam. The Room Mate group has conceived each hotel as a personal friend of their customers. Therefore, Amsterdam is one friend richer with the dearest: 'Aitana'. She's also known as a dreamer, a bit ironic, yet determined too. She's someone you will stay with during your holiday and shows you around her city. Aitana can be recognised by her various shapes, patterns and many colors. It doesn't matter which room you book, they all deliver the greatest comfort, city views and a unique shape here and there.

The Rooms

Each room has different colours, patterns and sizes and start from 30m2. We have stayed in two rooms: The Executive Queen and the Queen room. Our favourite room was by far the Queen room, it was smaller than the executive queen room, but it was a room with a corner window view on a higher floor. We absolutely admired the city views. All of the rooms on the top floor are worth a stay, because of their stunning city views. You will have an overlooking view of the beautiful, vibrant Amsterdam. Our favourite rooms are definitely all the corner rooms, as they give you a stunning view through their walls of glass. As the city can be crowded and rushed, the rooms of Aitana offer you a moment to relax after a long city walk.

We also captured the King Suite and this is really (in our option) the most beautiful room of Room Mate Aitana. It's super spacious, has a resin floor, a bath tub located in an open bathroom and a king size bed. Also, there's enough space to work here with its large wooden table and a comfy couch to read a book or two. This room is all about white and nude colours, which is different than the other rooms where there's a lot more colour. However, the first photo of the left, is the bed of the Junior Suite: an organic headboard of the bed.

The Food

Can we talk more about the delicious food of the restaurant inside Room Mate Aitana: 'I-Dock'? Until this day, we keep spreading the word to people who ask for a recommended restaurant in Amsterdam. We always tell them to pay a visit to I-Dock restaurant. Be prepared to receive outstanding starters, delicious main courses and splendid desserts. Here's why: We tasted two different starters and one of them was their chicken gyoza's. They come with bock choy, sesame and oyster sauce. What makes them so delicious? They are not too soft, yet not too hard and the combination of the sauce and bock choy creates a tasteful sensation. Normally, I'm not a fan of beef, but I would highly recommend to order the Beef Tataki as a starter and try out their Grilled Sirloin Steak. They prepare both dishes in a way that you wish your plate would never get empty! We also tried out their pasta truffle linguine. A pasta that comes with Poached eggs, Parma ham, Eggplant, Arugula and Parmesan. If you're like me, who doesn't like poached eggs, no worries you can ask for 'hard boiled poached eggs'. It's still the same size, but only without running egg yolk. If you follow us on Instagram, than you know that once we only travelled to Paris for just one day, to visit an Italian restaurant that serves our favourite pasta. We have added this particular truffle linguine to the list of our favourite pastas in Europe.

We fancied our dinners together with a couple of great cocktails and cava. As all good things come to an end, we finished our meals with a final dish of churros with white chocolate, ice cream and caramel. I am definitely rating I-dock with a solid 9.7, also because of their marvellous service! And, if you're visiting them during the summer, you can have an ice cold drink while enjoying the sun coming through the marina.

The Service

Here's what you can expect from the service of Room Mate Aitana. The staff from both the hotel and the restaurant are always available to help you out if you have any questions. You can always pass by the reception desk and ask for any restaurant recommendations or a taxi booking.

We would especially like to thank Skels Rama, who is the F&B Supervisor and was always here to help us out during our stay. We have had wonderful talks with him, a great cooperation together while recording content for the I-dock restaurant. He knows how to handle large and small crowds and listens to every guest his or hers wishes. He is a true spark, that shines throughout the organisation!

The Location

The location of Room Mate aitana is perfect for those who want to visit more than just the city center of Amsterdam and here's why: Room Mate Aitana is just a 7 minute walk away from Amsterdam Central Station. Therefore, you can either choose to explore more of the centre of Amsterdam or pick any public transport or taxi you want to a different city.

For those of you who want to see more of the city centre, it's just a 10 minute walk to the canals and from there you can easily go to several musea, the flower market or head over to the busy Dam Square and discover the Royal Palace or National Monument. However, you can also hop on a ferry at central station and discover the north side of Amsterdam to visit the A'dam Look Out or Eye film museum for instance.
